8" x 10" black and white photograph on fiber paper of the Waynesboro Airport. Accompanying text reads: "Waynesboro Airport where G.E. plant is at present time." The photograph shows 3 planes and the hangers. The Valley Airport, Waynesboro's first airport, was founded in September 27, 1927 by C. C. Loth, who was in the Army Air Force in World War I. The Valley Airport was operational until 1953, when Loth sold the property to General Electric and they built their Waynesboro plant on the property. Loth moved the airport several miles west of Waynesboro. |
